Bitcoin Cash has made a sharp move in the crypto market. The coin rose 32.2% to $295.41, which put it at the top of the day’s major crypto gainers. The move came as interest in Bitcoin forks returned and as the wider digital asset market saw a strong rise.
Bitcoin Cash, also known as BCH, is a fork of Bitcoin. It came from a split in the Bitcoin network in 2017. Its main goal was to support larger blocks and lower transaction costs. Over time, BCH has built its own market, user base and network.
The latest price jump has put BCH back in the spotlight. It also shows how fast money can move across the crypto market when traders turn more positive. Yet the rise does not mean that one new event has changed the long-term value of Bitcoin Cash. A mix of market mood, Bitcoin’s rise, strong trade in crypto futures and short position exits may have helped the move.
A Sharp Move in One Day
The size of the BCH rise stands out. A gain of 32.2% in a short period is large even for crypto, a market known for sharp price changes.
The same data set placed Bitcoin Cash at $295.41. Another price record for August 21 showed a high of $294.76 and a daily rise of 32.19%. This shows that the exact price can vary by source and by the time of the price check.
A separate Coinbase price record at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis showed BCH at $286.92 on August 21, with a value of $223.55 on August 20. That record also shows BCH at $213.79 on August 19.
These differences are normal in crypto because prices can vary across exchanges and data services. The key fact remains clear: BCH had a very large rise, and it stood far above its price level from only a few days earlier.
Bitcoin Sets the Tone
The BCH rally did not happen by itself. Bitcoin has also had a major move.
Bitcoin rose more than 20% over the past week and moved above $77,000. It came close to $80,000 at one point. The move was one of Bitcoin’s strongest weekly gains in years.
One report put Bitcoin’s weekly gain at 23%, with the coin at $77,375. That rise came as gold also posted a strong gain, which showed a wider shift toward hard assets.
When Bitcoin rises fast, smaller crypto assets often see even larger percentage gains. Bitcoin has a dominant share of the crypto market. CoinMarketCap data put Bitcoin’s market share near 60%. A strong BTC move can therefore push traders toward assets with higher risk and higher possible returns.
This may help explain why Bitcoin Cash rose much more than Bitcoin itself.
Other Coins Also Post Big Gains
BCH was not the only asset with a large price rise. The same market report listed Zcash at 29.5%, Pepe at 27.5%, and Aave at 25.4%. These gains show that the move had a broad base rather than a focus on Bitcoin Cash alone.
At the other side of the market, MemeCore fell 4.5%, which made it the biggest loser in the same report.
This mix of large gains and losses shows the high risk of crypto. Money can shift from one asset to another at a very fast pace. A coin can post a huge rise one day and give back part of that move soon after.
The Wider Crypto Market Gets a Boost
The total crypto market also saw a strong rise. CoinMarketCap data showed total crypto market value at about $2.38 trillion before it rose to about $2.56 trillion. That was a gain of roughly 7.6%. The altcoin market rose from about $1.01 trillion to about $1.03 trillion, a gain of about 2.1%.
These numbers give useful context to the BCH move. The entire market had a better tone, but BCH rose far more than the market as a whole.
That often happens when traders move into assets with more risk. Bitcoin tends to move first, while smaller assets can see much larger moves once market confidence improves.
Short Positions May Have Added Fuel
Another possible reason for the BCH move is the derivatives market.
CoinMarketCap’s BCH price analysis said the coin was up 29.42% to $286.24 over 24 hours at the time of its report. It pointed to a derivatives-led short squeeze as a major factor. A short squeeze can occur when traders who bet on a price fall have to buy the asset to close their positions after the price rises.
That forced demand can push the price even higher. A small rise can therefore turn into a much larger move if many traders hold short positions.
The same report noted an abnormal flow of funds into BCH futures. One two-hour period had a net inflow of $6.77 million, according to the data cited in that report.
This does not prove that the entire 32.2% move came from short positions. It does, however, offer a possible reason for the speed and size of the rally.
Why Bitcoin Has So Much Strength
Several wider market factors have helped Bitcoin.
The U.S. Treasury said it would double its long-term bond buybacks from $2 billion to $4 billion per operation. The move came after a sharp rise in bond yields. Market analysts saw the policy as a sign of support for financial liquidity and risk assets.
Bitcoin also got help from fresh demand for spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds. From Monday to Thursday, spot Bitcoin ETFs had about $1.6 billion in net inflows. On Thursday alone, the total reached $606 million, the highest daily inflow since May.
ETF demand matters because it gives large investors a simple way to gain Bitcoin exposure. Strong ETF demand can create direct buying pressure and can also improve market confidence.
Regulation Adds More Hope
Crypto policy has also played a role.
President Donald Trump has called on Congress to pass the Clarity Act, a proposed law that would set clearer rules for digital assets. The law could help define which crypto assets fall under securities or commodities rules.
Positive policy signals can reduce fear among banks, asset managers and other large investors. The effect is not certain, but clearer rules can make it easier for major firms to enter the crypto market.
This factor has helped Bitcoin and several other crypto assets at a time when the market was already under pressure from economic and policy concerns.
Does This Mean Bitcoin Forks Are Back?
The strong BCH move has renewed talk about Bitcoin forks. Bitcoin Cash is one of the best-known Bitcoin forks, so its rise naturally brings attention to the wider group.
There are also fresh developments around other Bitcoin forks. A proposed eCash fork had an August launch window, while a separate BIP-110 minority chain split from Bitcoin earlier in the month. The BIP-110 chain produced only two blocks in about eight hours before it stalled, while the main Bitcoin chain moved far ahead.
Still, the BCH price move should not be treated as proof that investors now prefer Bitcoin forks over Bitcoin. The wider market data points more toward a Bitcoin-led crypto rally, with BCH as one of the assets that saw an especially large move.
What Comes Next for BCH
The biggest question now is whether Bitcoin Cash can keep its gains.
A rise of 32.2% in such a short period can create strong profit pressure. Traders who bought BCH near $200 may choose to sell after such a fast move. If Bitcoin also loses its recent strength, BCH could face a sharp pullback.
CoinMarketCap’s analysis said a hold above $242 could support more upward momentum, with $300 as a possible next area of interest. A move below $242 could put the price near $220, especially if the market loses its current strength.
These are market levels, not guarantees. Crypto prices can move far beyond technical targets when market mood changes.
A Rally Worth Watching
Bitcoin Cash’s 32.2% rise to $295.41 is one of the clearest signs of the current crypto market revival. Yet the story is larger than BCH.
Bitcoin has posted a major weekly gain, ETF demand has returned, the U.S. Treasury has raised its bond buyback plan from $2 billion to $4 billion, and hopes for clearer U.S. crypto rules have improved market mood. At the same time, other assets such as Zcash, Pepe and Aave have also posted large gains.
Bitcoin Cash has simply moved faster than most of the market.
For now, the best way to view the rally is as part of a wider crypto risk shift rather than a clear new era for Bitcoin forks. If Bitcoin stays strong, BCH may have more room to rise. If the broader market turns lower, the same high volatility that helped BCH rise could work just as fast in the other direction.
